HOWL.net

A cursed little retro-game recommender, built in a weekend to learn context management.

Here’s what I did

I built HOWL.net, a context manager that recommends retro video games with anthro characters.

The original excuse was simple: I wanted to learn context management by making something real instead of reading about it. The secondary goal was to make something a little cursed and haunted. Mission accomplished.

Here’s what I learned

Context management gets interesting fast once the model has to choose what matters, what to keep, and what to throw away. A tiny recommendation toy was enough to make those tradeoffs visible.

It also reinforced one of my favorite ways to learn: pick a technical question, wrap it in a weird little artifact, and keep poking until the thing works.

The technical part

The code is public if you want to see how it works. The project lives in the Arcadesys/wizwor repository on GitHub.

The demo

Try it yourself. Tip: turn the sound on.
